Sanwo-Olu Assures Of Completion Of Rail Projects Q4 2022

*Says Deadline Remains Sacrosanct



Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has restated his commitment towards ensuring that the blue and red rail lines commence operation this year.

Lovetvnews Nigeria reports that the governor gave this assurance during an inspection of the mass rail projects on Monday in Lagos.

The rail lines are part of the state government’s vision of an integrated multimodal transportation system. it’s contained in the state’s strategic transport master plan, to reduce stagnation and ensure interconnectivity in different parts of the state.

When completed, the 37-kilometer red line rail project will link Agbado to Marina, while the 27.5-kilometer blue line rail project will run from Okokomaiko to Marina.

He expressed satisfaction with the pace of works at the train stations, as contractors were on their way, waiting for them to complete works on the Blue and Red line rails in accordance with the schedule for commercial activities later in the anus.

”Our promise on the blue and red line is still ongoing. We believe that if we come quarterly to monitor them, we will make sure that before the end of this year we will see the trains on top of the tracks.

“That is our commitment and we will begin to monitor and control ourselves.

“It is a very iconic and emblematic project that we are really proud of. On behalf of the government, I want to congratulate all of our contractors because they are very committed.

“They have assured us that, whatever the cost, they will complete all projects on time and within budget,” said the governor.

He promised to intensify the supervision and follow-up of the projects on a quarterly basis to facilitate their speedy completion.

“We embarked on this similar tour about three or four months ago and we mentioned that we would do it every quarter so we can see how far the builds are going.

As we have all seen, I am pleased to report that construction is progressing on schedule. All the contractors are here even today, not being a work day, they are all working on site, ”said Mr. Sanwo-Olu.

He also revealed the state government’s plan to relocate the market around the train station in Yaba, as the government was engaging stakeholders on the best way to relocate traders elsewhere.

During the Monday four-season tour by Mr. Sanwo-Olu, there was a significant improvement in construction works at the Ikeja, Yaba, Ebute-Metta and Marina station sites, compared to the visit to the sites from September 25, 2021.

At Ikeja station, which will be the iconic main station of the red line project, the station was at the foundation level in September, but the project is now at the second floor level, leaving the third floor, which is the top floor. .

Roadworks in Ikeja as well as the overpass from Obafemi Awolowo to Agege Motor Road are also underway.

At the Yaba site, about three months ago, the contractor was in the excavation stage, but now they are laying the cover to go to the second floor, in accordance with the corresponding order of the contractor to ensure that they meet the deadlines and the deadline. .

The Ebute-Metta station is well ahead of delivery because the contractor finished the corpse from the station as the governor’s entourage was able to enter the station safely.

There are also big improvements to the pace of work at the iconic Marina Station, as the beams for the station’s construction have already been pre-fabricated and stored in a safe place.
