LG elections: IPAC Hails LASIEC Says July Date Clears All Doubts

The Inter Party Advisory Council in Lagos State has commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for articulating its plans for the local government elections in the state .

 

Mr Abiodun Salami ,IPAC’s Publicity Secretary in the state gave the commendation in a statement on Wednesday .

He said IPAC was happy that LASIEC, had finally fixed the date of the election for July and that the commission had come up with its plans,saying the development had put all speculations that that the elections would not hold to rest .

“IPAC commends the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission for finally coming out with its plans for the local government elections , particularly with the fixing the election for July ,which is the usual election time .

“With the election date now given ,all doubts about the elections have been cleared .This inspires confidence as it marks the beginning of a process to elect people’s representatives at the grassroots”,he said.

Salami also commended Gov. Babajide Sanwoolu for staying on the side of the rule of law and democracy by the decision to hold the election .

While saying the coast is now clear for political parties to begin preparations ,the IPAC spokesman cautioned them to play by the rules of the game and not do any thing to undermine the process .

“The success of the elections depends not only on LASIEC but all stakeholders So I want to urge parties to play by the rules of the game and play their part well in the process .

“I equally appeal to Lagosians to fully participate in the process in order to elect leaders that are truly representatives of people at the grassroots”,he said .
